eat.think.grow. - Portland Partners for School Food & Garden Education is a community of activists, non-profits, Portland Public School department leads, and representatives of city and state agencies committed to advancing the Portland Public Schools Wellness Policy through Farm to School initiatives.

The Portland Public School District is committed to creating and promoting a school culture of life long wellness through school environments with excellent and consistent nutrition, nutrition and health education, physical education and physical activity.The eat.think.grow partners  provide community support and resources to assist the district in accomplishing it's Wellness Policy.

Our mission is to improve childhood learning and health through a whole systems approach to wellness. Areas of focus include cafeteria and school food environment, integration of garden-based and nutrition education in the classroom, and access to school gardens and local destination farms.

The link between nutrition, physical education and academic achievement is strong.

  • Research on the benefits of school breakfast programs found improvement in students' ability to concentrate in the classroom and an increase in test scores.
